2009-2014
Welcome to the story of the Wanna-Peas, my fake musical group. We have three productions to our name, being music videos based on the song "Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas, the cover of "I'm a Believer" by Smashmouth, and "Breakdown" by my favorite band in my adolesence, Relient K.
In July 2009, I was listening to Boom Boom Pow in a friend's car when I suddenly got a vision to make a lip-syncing video to the song. I posted my idea on facebook, and three friends of mine volunteered to help me make it. Thus began my first and most tumultuous task of directing and filming so far in life. It was my first major project. Filming began in late July, and finished in July 2010. We ran out of time with school starting up, and had not finished filming, so it was postponed for a year. Throughout this project, we came up with the bright idea to name ourselves the Black Eyed Wanna-Peas, a play on the colloquial term "wanna-be", meaning someone aspiring to be, or a phony. Boom Boom Pow Redux was published July 26, 2010.
One day in June 2011, I was driving home from mowing at my grandparent's house playing music with my PSP on shuffle, when Smashmouth's cover of I'm a Believer came on, and I had a vision. I visualized the whole video and couldn't wait to start filming. I called up my friends and we began filming on July 5th and ended with a faux concert shoot at Bergfeld Park which I actually rented for the day on July 17th. I'm a Believer was published July 26, 2011.
After this began my hiatus from this group because of events in my personal life which I regret, but learned from. I attempted to start another video in summer of 2013, but to no avail. It was during this time that I changed our name to simply the Wanna-Peas.
The grand summer of 2014 welcomed a third video by the Wanna-Peas after long last. It was a dream of mine since 2011 for a third video, and I was determined to make it happen. I also had a 10-year-old dream of making a music video to a song by the formerly Christian rock band Relient K. I began talking to my assistant creative director and group member Alex Fort (alex.de.ap) in January about the video, and whilst sitting at my desk listening to Relient K songs for inspiration to dawn on me, track 06 on the 2001 album The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek, Breakdown, came on, and inspiration hit me like a ton of bricks. The song would be Breakdown. The central event of the video would be my car breaking down leading to a breakdown in the cohesion of our group; all of it being an allegory for our actual breakdown as a group in real life. Being our most hasty, quick, stressful, and productive shoot in our career, we filmed in four hours on July I2, 2014, and I published a trailer on the same day. Breakdown was published on July 26, 2014.
Welcome to one of my favorite projects I have ever done in my life. Enjoy.

(July 26, 2014)
This is the third music video by myself and three of my friends that I met in the youth group at my church, Colonial Hills Baptist Church, in 2009. Our first video was a low-budget duplication of the music video for Boom Boom Pow by the Black Eyed Peas, where we get the name of our group.
This song, and the titular event of the car breaking down, is all an allegory of our real-life breakdown as a group.
Homage to Relient K at 1:28.
The hard work and dedication it took to create this video I attribute to my Dad, Kenneth "Bo" Jones, and this video would not have been possible without the willingness of my beautiful Wanna-Peas: Taylor Graham/Tayboo, alex.de.ap and creative director Alex Fort, our one and only Jayla Johnston/JayFerg; and the assistance and support of Luke Johnson, Cori Moore, Joe Self, videographer Marshall Cearfoss, and our prop/tech assistant Lori Miller Fort.
